OUR WORK · FLAGSHIP PROGRAMME
Rehabilitation & Recovery
Helping people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction rebuild their lives through sensitisation, counselling, training and mentorship.
OVERVIEW
About the programme
Alcohol and drug abuse has fuelled violence against women and girls, insecurity, ill health and high school drop-out rates in our community. Following the Government’s country-wide campaign against illicit brew and drug abuse, leaders working through the Nyumba Kumi initiative have run campaigns in Mogotio Sub-County since 2019, and many addicts have reformed.
In February 2020, church leaders, local leaders, Nyumba Kumi teams, women and youth leaders noted that reformed addicts needed further rehabilitation and mentorship to become self-reliant. Through community barazas they chose sixty young people, among them former addicts, school drop-outs and young mothers, to begin a journey of training and mentorship.
Today, reformed members of the community are self-reliant, and families and communities live together more peacefully.
